WQU CEO Daphne Kis Discusses the On-Demand Future of Education with CNBC at Davos

Last month WorldQuant University’s CEO, Daphne Kis, attended the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos, where she took part in a discussion hosted by CNBC Catalyst.

Daphne joined Leena Nair, Chief Human Resources Officer at Unilever; Mohit Joshi, President, Head of Financial Services, Insurance, Healthcare and Life Sciences at Infosys Limited; andMary Snapp, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Philanthropies on the CNBC sponsored panel about on-demand education.

The panel gathered to discuss the ways advances in on-demand education, training, and upskilling programs can translate into opportunities for global talent and employers. In particular they focused on how technology and learning platforms can best empower both educators and students around the world.

Daphne specifically acknowledged that matching learners with jobs and resources is as important as education itself. As she notes, success that is measured by outcomes and jobs that truly matter requires working at the intersection of education and corporations.

To that end, the role of technology to expand these opportunities has become incredibly vital. Daphne discusses “technology as the means rather than the end” and questions how we “leverage the cross-cultural aspect of [technology]” for the benefit of everyone.

As she says: “We put a huge focus on collaborative learning, and that’s a big part of what the marketplace is going to demand from our students. To the point of on-demand education, technology has made this all possible so that geography is not the factor, and access to information is not the factor.”
