U.S. Olympian Ilia Malinin is nicknamed the “Quad God” because he is the first and only figure skater to land the quadruple Axel consistently in competition. WorldQuant University has its own version of a quadruple Axel.

A small group of high achievers has completed all four academic programs currently offered at WorldQuant University. The accredited, free, online institution has more than 8,000 alumni worldwide, but only seven people have landed the quad.

Enock Joseph Mwesigwa of Uganda set the standard on Jan. 13, 2026, when he completed the Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab and became the first quadruple alumnus in WorldQuant University history.

“WorldQuant University has equipped me with advanced analytical skills and also strengthened my conviction that accessible education can unlock global potential,” says Enock, a food scientist at Banana Industrial Research & Development Center in Bushenyi, Uganda.

Next came Dean Menezes of the United States, Zhaojing “Jim” Huang of China, Omphile Tankane of Botswana, Chun Hwee Chin of Singapore, Richard Obonyo of Uganda, and Matthew Chua of Singapore. They all completed their fourth WorldQuant University program in February 2026.

Together, they form the “Magnificent Seven” of WorldQuant University.

The feat only became possible in recent months. WorldQuant University launched the Computer Vision Lab in January 2025 and the Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab in September 2025, expanding a menu of academic offerings that already included the Master of Science in Financial Engineering and the Applied Data Science Lab. The Magnificent Seven were all early enrollees in the new programs.

“Being part of the pioneers to complete the Master of Science in Financial Engineering and all three certificates is something I’m truly proud of,” says Matthew, associate professor of biomedical informatics at the National University of Singapore.

Matthew says he kept coming back to WorldQuant University because of the quality of the programs. He also appreciated the social mission.

“WQU’s mission of making high-quality quantitative education accessible globally resonates deeply with me,” he says. “The journey has been both intellectually challenging and incredibly fulfilling.”

Richard says his interest in quantitative finance started when he was promoted to lead Supply and Operations with Oryx Energies, a Swiss oil company. Part of his work was to forecast oil prices, and he recognized a need to boost his skills. He is now pursuing a PhD in mathematics at Makerere University, where he studies stochastic optimal control and machine learning in algorithmic and high frequency trading.

“WorldQuant University provided me with all the tools needed for my PhD research,” he says.

Chun Hwee, a human factors engineer at HTX in Singapore, says he enrolled at WorldQuant University seeking personal growth.

“I was driven by self-motivated opportunities in learning,” he says. “WorldQuant University gave me that, along with global exposure.”

Other quadruple alumni will join the Magnificent Seven soon. Winnie Cheruiyot of Kenya, for example, has all three WorldQuant University certificates and is enrolled in the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program.
