Doors opened for Ashveer Ramlukan when he enrolled in the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program at WorldQuant University in summer 2026.

“Being a WQU student helped me access technology and startup opportunities, including GitHub benefits,” Ashveer says. “Other opportunities followed, including access and a trial through OpenAI.”

Ashveer is using the resources to develop and test ideas for Culltron, the South African technology company he is building for software, AI, financial technology, and infrastructure-related applications.

“These resources did not replace the work, but the education, access, and opportunities made a meaningful difference to what I could attempt,” he says. “I am genuinely grateful and love being part of WQU.”

Ashveer’s interest in technology began in childhood and led him to study information technology at Durban University of Technology. In 2016, he also landed an internship in India.

He learned about the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program at WorldQuant University while doing research online and decided to attempt the entrance assessment.

“That decision became a turning point,” he says.

Ashveer scored 83 percent on the assessment and started the accredited, online, free program on July 7, 2026. Since then, he has completed the first two courses and earned the Foundations of Financial Engineering Certificate. He also started the Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab, another WorldQuant University academic offering.

“Alongside my studies, I’m building Culltron,” he says. “My time at WQU has been an important part of this journey, opening new academic and technical opportunities for me.”
