WorldQuant University has launched a new alumni chapter in South Africa, marking the continued expansion of alumni services worldwide.

WorldQuant University launched its first-ever alumni chapter in India in summer 2026. Other new initiatives include the Global Alumni Ambassadors program and the Alumni Distinguished Speaker Series, a quarterly virtual event that featured executives from Microsoft, McDonald’s, and Apple in the first three episodes. WorldQuant University also shares job referrals and connects alumni on regional WhatsApp groups and a private LinkedIn group.

Never Chimuchiti of Vanderbijlpark, South Africa, will serve as president; and Humbelani Khuli of Sandton, South Africa, will serve as vice president.

Never is a triple WQU alumnus. He completed the Computer Vision Lab in 2025, the Data Science Lab in 2025, and the Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab in 2026. Humbelani is a two-time WQU alumna. She completed the Data Science Lab in 2023 and the Master of Science in Financial Engineering degree program in 2025.

“WorldQuant University is doing vital work by making premium global education accessible to all,” Never says. “I look forward to building a vibrant, collaborative alumni community where South African tech and data professionals can connect, upskill, and lead the future of the digital economy.”

As vice president, Humbelani will oversee operations, events, and community channels.

“I am truly honored to serve as vice president of the first-ever South Africa Alumni Chapter for WorldQuant University,” she says. “WQU has consistently proven that learning has no regional bounds. It has the power to connect people from different parts of the world, industries and experiences.”

Never says the chapter’s goal is to foster an environment where local alumni and students do not just learn, but truly thrive, collaborate, and open doors to global opportunities.

“I believe that education is the ultimate equalizer, and through WQU, South African alumni and students have a direct pathway to mastering advanced AI, finance, and technological skills,” he says. “I am excited to support them every step of the way.”

Humbelani says the chapter will also help raise brand awareness for WQU in South Africa, while inspiring individual growth.

“Above all, I believe our greatest strength lies not only in what we have achieved individually but in what we can accomplish together,” she says.

WorldQuant University is a not-for-profit institution dedicated to elevating global talent with transformative educational opportunities. WQU offers entirely free online programs for technical specialists and business leaders alike, from quantitative finance and data science to applied and strategic AI.

With industry-driven curricula and expert faculty, WQU empowers learners in over 150 countries to develop future-ready skills that are in demand across industries.
