Colombian Investor Completes Three WorldQuant University Certificates
Colombian investor Ricardo Vanegas is a lifelong learner. He has completed courses at numerous higher education institutions, including Harvard, Stanford, and Princeton Universities. He also has three certificates from WorldQuant University.
Ricardo completed the Applied Data Science Lab and Computer Vision Lab in 2025 and the Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab in 2026. Now he is starting the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program, which will build on his undergraduate degree in financial engineering.
“So far, this university has delivered top-notch value for absolutely nothing in terms of tuition cost,” he says. “My overall experience has been truly great—challenging, rewarding, and eye-opening.”
Ricardo is based in Bucaramanga, Colombia, where he lives off investment income using a trade strategy executed via tools at Skandia Colombia, a financial services company that specializes in wealth management, pensions, savings, investment, and insurance solutions. He says the coursework at WorldQuant University can prepare learners for freelance investing or more traditional corporate roles.
“Whether you want to build your own venture, launch a startup, or climb the corporate ladder in finance, quant roles, or fintech, WQU gives you powerful tools to make it happen,” he says.
Besides studying at WorldQuant University, Ricardo also gives back to the institution. He is one of 232 Global Alumni Ambassadors from 53 countries in a program launched on March 30, 2026.
“If you're passionate about quantitative finance, data science, or financial engineering and want high-quality, accredited education without the financial burden, WQU is an incredible opportunity,” he says. “I highly recommend it.”
