An education from WorldQuant University is paying off quickly for Umuhire Ingabire Grace “Ukwezi” in Rwanda. She works daily with data as a professional in charge of revenue modeling and statistics at the Rwanda Revenue Authority.

As part of her job, Ukwezi synthesizes information from multiple sources, identifies trends, and designs solutions. She enrolled in the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program at WQU to broaden her skills.

“Joining WQU while working as a statistical analyst in taxation was a turning point,” she says. “I wanted something more challenging, and I was drawn to WQU’s global platform as a way to engage with different mindsets that spark innovation in how I approach my work.”

Women lack equal representation in STEM fields, but Ukwezi tells women considering science, technology, engineering, or math careers to seize opportunities.

“Do not let external expectations limit your ambitions,” she says. “A program like WQU’s Master of Science in Financial Engineering is both rigorous and empowering, and it proves that with discipline and the right support, women can excel in highly quantitative fields.”

Already, Ukwezi has learned stochastic modeling, derivative pricing, and portfolio management. She also has led teams while expanding her global network.

“I would encourage women to embrace their curiosity, build strong peer networks, and take full advantage of WQU’s global community,” Ukwezi says. “It is an incredible platform for growth and impact.”
