Software engineer Mateus Yonathan of Indonesia completed the Deep Learning Fundamentals Lab at WorldQuant University and kept going. Now he has two more certificates—Applied Data Science Lab and Computer Vision Lab—making him a triple alumnus.

“I just went straight through and finished all three,” he says. “Completing the labs within a compressed timeframe required a strong focus on execution and continuous iteration. The main thing I took from this: The timeframe doesn’t matter as much as whether you actually understand what you’re doing and can apply it.”

Mateus says the programs taught him the importance of being flexible, truly understanding the work, and being able to execute under pressure.

“Thanks to WorldQuant University for making this free and for offering the Credly by Pearson badges,” he says.

Next up for Mateus will be the Master of Science in Financial Engineering program, which he will start on July 7, 2026. The accredited, free, two-year program integrates mathematical, statistical, and computer science tools with finance theory and professional business skills in an online and collaborative setting.

During the program, Mateus will juggle responsibilities as lead developer at One Code Solution, a technology service company specializing in offshore development with a dedicated support team in the Netherlands.

Mateus previously worked remotely for companies in Singapore and Australia.
